About the iconic theater: When the Garland Theatre opened in 1945, it was the the place to be seen and the place to see films. The theater was very forward for the time, with wide aisles and a cup holder in each reclining seat. A novel idea was the snack bar. Today the Garland is an icon with all that old style. Its well perserved, staying true to the era. You not only get to see the show, you also get to experience movie theater history with a retro cool style. The Garland is Spokane's only Independent Encore theater.  For those 21 & up🍸 Bon Bon, a concession stand for adults. Local Artist Spotlight: Anthesis Company Floral

Adoring this floral arrangement from Anthesis Co. Inspired by the country side, this creative collaboration features “Country Home” orange roses, some forged greenery, and poppy seed buds. Perfect for the juxtaposition of slow country life and our urban home. #anthesiscofloral

Yes, I moved the arrangement from room to room with me and even on patio for dessert.
In our 'hood there was a petite park market happening. I scored this delightful bouquet for $15 Thank you, Anthesis

Misty Morning

There’s something so magical about the calm before the storm.

The sky is tragically beautiful.

It smells like grace and the cool breeze feels almost plush. No, I don’t mind the rain. (LA)

a PORT in the storm...

Life’s fast, sip slow.
Port is a slow, seductive sip. Knipprath Cellars Au Chocolate Port has a strong chocolate nose and subtle finish. Knipprath uses cocoa beans to infuse the chocolate flavors in the Cabernet Sauvignon he uses to make this Port-style wine. I liked it 10 years ago and tonight being a cool and rainy night, it’s pretty perfect. Port in Washington is rare. Sadly, this local winery is closed but especially tonight...not forgotten.  🍷#lastbottle#port#wawine#sip

The calm before the storm...

Snuggled up on the deck waiting for it.
The storm.
Right now it peacefully feels and smells like rain as the cool wind swirls.
There’s a flicker of a light show in the distance.
Bring it on!
The sky is beautiful tonight - I want a painting of it.
I don't mind the rain.

Dear Martha...

Dear Martha Stewart,
You were like for many, my domestic mentor in the early 90’s. I’d anxiously wait for the arrival of each issue of Martha Stewart LIVING magazine and I’d even VHS tape your show for playback.
I didn’t just look at the pretty pictures or watch you cook and craft, I’d actually recreate your suggestions. A lot of them. I had a few girlfriends that would take on the challenges with me. Themed dinner parties, exotic recipes, lavish children’s birthday parties and homemade crafted Christmas gifts. My grown-up son recently brought up on one his epic childhood parties. His favorite was one when money was tight but thanks to you, I crafted for months to pull off a still raved about event.
You may be the reason we eat off the good dishes (by candle light) for every meal. You inspired me to write more thank you notes, give hostess gifts, re-arrange furniture, paint antiques and continue to try and make our house a home.
Why am I bringing this up? We’ll today for lunch I ma…

Praise for the Peony

Waiting for brilliance as they are taking their sweet time to bloom. For me, no other flower can compete with the lovely and the fragrant Peony.

The slipper soft petals, delicate shape, romantic shades and graceful foliage make this flower my most beloved. They are imperfectly perfect. Kinda like us.

Life is short, buy the ART

Flower Power 🌺 "I must have flowers...always and always" Monet

I’ve always appreciated original art and enjoying supporting local and/or up and coming artists and building a collection of art that I have a connection with. I had been “fan girling” Neicy Frey’s work for more than a decade. I wanted a “very Neicy” floral piece but commissioning one and therefore customizing it by collaborating with her made the art even more personal. I adore my signature piece of art for my home that I make interior design decisions around.

Neicy gave me a rough sketch of the plan we discussed for the commissioned pieced which I happily displayed on my fridge as Neicy was working on the art. The completed painting looks similar but better! Art isn’t strictly preplanned, it involves emotion and inspiration that comes in the moment. This untamed place is where the magic happens. I was careful to keep direction for the art vague and encourage Neicy to take liberties as she felt them. The end …
